Still Blooming: Art & Retirement

Retirement is not an ending, it is often the beginning of rediscovering passions once set aside, or even embracing entirely new creative journeys. At Bless, we see the silver years as a time to explore, express, and celebrate individuality. For many of our residents, that expression has found its way onto canvas.

What began as a shared interest soon blossomed into a vibrant Art Class at Bless, bringing together residents who were eager to learn, experiment, and grow creatively. Under the gentle guidance of our resident artist and art teacher, Mrs. Mallika Paul, several residents picked up a paintbrush for the very first time in their lives. With encouragement, patience, and practice, they steadily refined their skills—leading to a moment of immense pride for the entire community.

That journey culminated in a beautiful art exhibition showcasing the creativity and dedication of our residents. Held from 20th to 24th November 2025 at the Durbar Hall Art Gallery, the exhibition welcomed visitors from across the community who came together to celebrate art, ageing, and inspiration.

The exhibition featured paintings created by participants of the Bless Art Class, along with additional artworks by residents. Visitors were also treated to exquisitely handcrafted pieces, including embroidery, crochet, and Kantha work—each creation reflecting patience, passion, and personal expression.

More than an exhibition, the event was a testament to the power of creativity at every stage of life. It beautifully illustrated how art can unite, uplift, and nurture seniors—supporting both cognitive and emotional wellbeing, while placing equal value on the joy of creation and the pride of achievement.

At Bless, moments like these reaffirm our belief that retirement is a season of growth. Our residents continue to bloom—through color, creativity, and the confidence to try something new, proving that it is never too late to create, learn, and shine.
